'People are fearful' - the reasons 'powerhouse' Arsenal have become the squad everyone fears.

It's evident why Arsenal are now numerous fans' top picks to claim the Premier League during this term.

Consider their results against West Ham and Crystal Palace versus those equivalent matches last season.

The Gunners have overcome all of them in the current season, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race previously.

Defensive Strength

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a primary factor why they are appearing strong to finally fulfil their title ambition.

They rank top for shutouts (6), goals allowed (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the best in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Proficiency

Their threat from set-pieces is widely recognized, but competing clubs still find it difficult to neutralize the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just fearful of them and it is great to see."

Title Potential

What is especially remarkable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their historic competitors aren't faring so well. This marks the initial occasion at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on manager Mikel Arteta at the outset, having invested around £250m on eight summer additions in search of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the business has so far yielded results in style, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and having the tightest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Shutouts in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without conceding a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and experts have described Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and determination.
